HS2 fund for woodland creation/restoration opens

On 11 March 2019 a new fund opened allowing access funding to create native woodland or restore Plantations on Ancient Woodland Sites (PAWS) within 25 miles of the HS2 phase one route. £4 million is available over the next 4 years.

The grant funds the creation of new native woodland between 1 and 25 hectares in size, especially where it connects or expands existing woodland to benefit habitat resilience. The grant also funds the removal of exotic species and restoration of native tree species on Plantations on Ancient Woodland Sites.
